Head of HW/SW CoDesign & Virtual Platforms

Ralph Schleifer, CARIAD SE, is heading the activities for HW/SW CoDesign & Virtual Prototyping in CARIAD SE within the Technology and Architecture organization. He established virtual development methodology on different abstraction levels along the automotive supply chain first within Audi and now at CARIAD. He has been active in various areas of Virtual Development for more than 12 years. Before joining the automotive industry in 2015, Ralph has been active in different areas of mobile communication at Ericsson in SW development, speech processing research, system engineering and DSP sub systems. Ralph has built up a cross site virtual platform team together with colleagues in Sweden starting in 2009. The team delivered the virtual platform to enable pre silicon SW development for LTE modem ASICs. Ralph holds a M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering.

KEYNOTE: HCP Challenge on Dev/Int/Test: How to cope with increasing compute power in Development/Integration/Test


The integration of E/E architectures into fewer but significantly more powerful HPC ECUs is a trend we see across the automotive industry. The advantages that come with this integration are manifold. However, this change affects the way we develop, integrate and test at the same time. We discuss the challenges that come with this changed architecture during development, integration, and test especially with respect to Virtual Prototyping and its deployment throughout the development process. An outlook is given on required advances in methodology, tools, and their supply chain.
